Review on ventilation rates in the ventilated air-spaces behind common wall assemblies with external cladding

For many decades, ventilated cavities in wall assemblies of buildings have been essential for creating moisture resilient constructions by allowing airflow within the air gap to promote drying. In addition that, cavity can enhance thermal performance building envelope, depending on change rate and outdoor conditions. Therefore, effective factors behind common with external cladding are specified present study. As a first step, analysis stack effect wind as mechanisms that drive air-space available literature is reviewed. Moreover, hydraulic network pressure losses along analyzed, various correlations loss described. Despite separate studies analyzing dissipation through water-permeable materials, comprehensive overview rates still lacking. second step this paper, existing methods predicting air-change systems classified compared measured data.
